Payment guidance

Approval, payment instruction and bank settlement are different stages.

Bank verification, payment-country controls, administration charges, bank fees and exchange rates may affect timing and the final amount received.

Claim approved

The claim decision is complete. This does not confirm settlement into the bank account.

Payment prepared

Banking details, region, compliance and applicable deductions are checked.

Payment initiated

A payment instruction has been submitted. Keep any masked payment or attempt reference.

Settlement

The receiving bank reports settlement. International bank and foreign-exchange processes may add time.

Bank-account safety

Use an eligible account and a secure update route

  • Check the supported account country, currency and transfer details before requesting payment.
  • Provide the correct SWIFT/BIC and international-transfer information where required.
  • Report changed details before the payment cut-off through the approved secure portal.
  • Expect confirmation that an authorised change was received and verified.
  • If portal or OTP access fails, use the identity-verification fallback through the help centre.

Understand the estimate

The VAT shown is not the amount promised

  • At a 15% VAT rate, the VAT fraction of a VAT-inclusive price is 15/115 before eligibility and deductions.
  • Only qualifying goods are considered.
  • Approved administration charges, bank costs and exchange effects may reduce the amount received.

No fee percentage, currency list, settlement date or net amount is promised here. Request the current approved formula and an itemised explanation for your claim.

Never send full banking details through ordinary email or social media

Use the approved secure portal. A legitimate update process should confirm receipt, compare masked old/new details and explain whether the payment cut-off has passed.

Indicative payment-stage experience

In many cases, SARS payment to VRA may take around 1 month after review and approval, followed by around 1 month for VRA allocation after receiving the funds. These are not deadlines, maximum periods, service-level commitments or guarantees. Either stage can take longer because of claim-specific, regulatory, bank, region, compliance or foreign-exchange checks.
