Getting your documents in order
All Postal claims require Original Tax invoices to be submitted with the required documents. claims without Original Tax invoices will not be processed.

Step 1

Document overview
Please be aware that there are different types of claims:
  • Disclaimer and POPIA Consent form (provided).
  • Postal claim declarations document (provided).
  • postal VAT refund application (provided).
  • Export declarations form (provided).
  • Customs official release documentation (TRD /SAD 500/ CND 2).
  • Copy of your passport showing entry into the Republic.
  • Exit Border Stamp.
  • Copy of duly authorised persons passport (including pages showing the claimants name, passport, and country of residence). Letter of authorisation to represent claimant.
  • Proof of Payment to VAT Vendor (for invoices above R10,000).
  • Original Tax invoices stamped by customs officials.
  • Disclaimer and POPIA Consent form (provided).

  • Copies of proof of delivery issued by cartage contractor that goods have been received by recipient in export country.
  • Vendor Tax Invoice (in respect of goods) signed and stamped by cartage contractor.
  • Proof of delivery stamped and signed by recipients appointed representative.
    • VAT 264 (downloadable)
    • Registration certificate for registrable goods.
    • Step 2

      Submitting documents
    • Submit your documents via registered post, courier or dropbox.
    • Make sure that your documents are stapled together.
    • Step 3

      Confirmation
      Wait for an email confirming you have successfully submitted your claim. You will be sent a claim number as well as a VAT-255 document that needs to be signed and sent back.
